Jacobs Residence
New York, NY, 2009
A 2000 SF, three-bedroom apartment in an elegant 1927 coop building in Greenwich Village, the project is a modernist edit of a classic prewar residence. The spacious dwelling was created by combining two one-bedroom units. In a bold move, the architects decided to raise the floor of one of the two original sunken living rooms to make a large master bedroom suite and, at the same time, space under the floor to house central air conditioning equipment. The modern kitchen and bathrooms are entirely new.
